Hiring the Right Business System Analyst
When hiring a business systems analyst, it is advisable to ask about their worst case and best case scenario experiences. During this part of the interview, it is important to listen carefully to the answer. If the candidate makes reference to who was to blame for some shortcomings or failures in the past, he or she may not be the best one you would want to join your organization.
A person who puts the blame on every one else except himself is the last thing you would need in your organization. Hence, when interviewing candidates for the position related to business systems analysis, you would want to find a person who is able to stand and say that they have made a mistake or was not able to do everything to avoid failure. A person like this is honest and someone people will trust and respect. It will be easier and more effective to introduce a new player into your team if the other members can trust him or her. You should also watch for indications that the person you are considering for the position is self-assured but not self-absorbed.
A business systems analyst must be friendly and easy going as he will often act as a liaison or communicator between the business departments and the IT department. You would need an individual who is not submissive or shy. You are not looking for a person who would always say yes; you would want someone who can frankly tell you if a solution will work or if it will fail.
